The ongoing process of international business concentration is constantly confronting intercultural research with new challenges that can no longer be resolved satisfactorily within the traditional borders of single specialist disciplines.
This volume presents selected contributions to the 1st interdisciplinary symposium European Cultures in Business and Corporate Communication, that was held in September 2001 at Åbo Akademi University, Turku in Finland. The authors deal with issues emerging from experiences in European every day business life in an interdisciplinary way. Under the intercultural postulate, they present manifold solutions which are relevant for business practice concerning cross-cultural and intercultural issues from different areas within professional communication in, about, and between enterprises. The topics that are dealt with come from the areas of communication theory, marketing, cultural psychology, linguistics, text theory, corporate communication, and corporate cooperation.
